Whether you are a novice or a seasoned skier our Austrian ski holidays offer you the chance to ski or snowboard on some of the world’s best north-facing slopes – but some of the most uncrowded ones as well. Against a backdrop of traditional alpine charm, you’ll experience unspoilt picturesque villages and ski resorts which cater for all levels.
All the resorts listed below are part of the “Schneewinkel” area – a total of 170km pistes where you can use your area lift pass to access any of the resorts using the free ski bus.
The main areas are:
St Johann
A small quintessential alpine town which manages to retain all the charm of a traditional Tyrolean village whilst at the same time offering plenty of lively apres-ski and children’s facilities.
St Johann, set at an elevation of 670m, offers lots of red and blue runs which vary from wide open slopes to woodland glades. With 17 chairlifts and gondolas, St Johann is an excellent resort for a group of skiers with mixed abilities.
St Jakob
Famous for panoramic scenery and charming mountain restaurants, St Jakob is perfect for families. There are 19km of slopes served by 8 lifts. The Bobo Kinderpark (children’s play park) is perfect to keep young children busy while you enjoy the panoramic scenery and sample charming mountain restaurants.
Fieberbrunn
Ideal for intermediary skiiers and snowboarders, the mountain offers 65 kms of exciting, varied pistes as well as many picturesque alpine restaurants serving traditional Wienerschnitzel or plates of Kaiserschmarrn (chopped-up pancakes sprinkled with sugar and served with apple sauce, a favourite of many of our regular guests). With 13 lifts (3 chair lifts, 8 surface lifts) and a half pipe for boarders an added bonus of this resort is the 1160 metre long long toboggan coaster which hurtles down the mountain at breakneck speed – a must for all visitors to Fieberbrunn.

Steinplatte
Steinplatte is located in the border triangle of Tyrol, Salzburg, and Bavaria. At an altitude of 1860m the wow factor hits you as soon as you step out of the gondola that takes you up to the top of this mountain. 32kms of wide (and we mean wide) open runs (and 28kms off-piste) perfect for intermediary and advanced skiers, you can also ski or snowboard into Germany if the mood takes you. To top it all, the resort has a track record of being very sunny. Perfect.

Kitzbuhel
Skiing is traditional in Kitzbühel. As it has been for over 125 years. The Kitzbühel ski area is extensive, stretching across the states of Tirol and Salzburg as well as seven municipalities. Skiers can choose between 57 cable cars or chairlifts to take them up to the snow-covered mountains 2,000 metres above sea level. Awaiting them are a total of 230 kilometres of slopes covering all levels of difficulty – from easy and moderate slopes right through to difficult, more challenging pistes. In Kitzbühel, it is possible to ski for a whole day without having to use the same lift twice.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, the Kitzbühel ski area is diverse and offers perfectly groomed ski slopes for every ability. The free practice lifts in the valley, where children or those getting back into skiing can enjoy a first skiing experience, are a great service for everyone. More experienced skiers can easily use the cable cars to make their way up the mountain, where they can also find a wide range of easy slopes in an extensive ski area.
Saalbach/Hinterglemm
The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Austria, with an unbeatable range of winter sports on 270 km of pistes and 70 lifts.

Lofer
The ski resort Lofer – Loferer Alm (Almenwelt Lofer) is located in the Salzburger Saalachtal (Austria, Salzburg (Salzburger Land), Pinzgau). For skiing and snowboarding, there are 46 km of slopes available. 10 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 640 and 1,670 m.
Continuous further development characterizes the Almenwelt Lofer ski resort. Since the 2012/2013 winter season, the Schwarzeck has been accessible by the Almen 8-person Schwarzeck lift, which is a state-of-the-art 8-person chairlift. This family-friendly lift is the first child safe 8-person with footrests, weather protectors and seat heaters in the world. The lift goes up to the peak and provides a fantastic panorama of the surrounding mountains as well as access to additional slopes, significantly increasing Lofer’s offering. In the children’s area, there is a 140 m long covered magic carpet, which guarantees optimum comfort in all types of weather. The Lofi Funline provides provide action for all freestylers and snowboarders. Additional investments were made in improving the machinery for artificial snow production. Furthermore, they built one of the largest water reservoirs in Salzburg with a capacity of 135.000 m³ .Last but not least, the “Kechtalm”, a rustic restaurant of typical regional style, was opened
